A BRAND film for DIGITAL INTELLIGENCE’s ILAS SYSTEM

Description: ILAS is a complicated system with incredible power enabling the police to connect seemingly random pieces of indicators to create a bigger picture and identify potential threats or those in a vulnerable situation.

PROCESS

ILAS is complex. It has the ability to do a huge amount of work to support the police force and portraying this was a challenge. We need to get across the complexity of the system but also show how ILAS is able to focus and simplify the information. Our design couldn’t fade our visual interpretation of the data away or turn it off. It always had to be there and in varying forms from individual pieces to clusters. So the challenge was how to create something that represents the complexity of the system but, without taking anything away, reduce the noise to be more focused, whilst acknowledging that behind-the-scenes things are still happening. 

The design started looking at how to represent the information and how to suggest these elements are individual but also combine. We drew inspiration from the interlock hexagon design used in DNA and chemical diagrams. This meant multiple varying strands of information and that each piece could form part of a puzzle.

It was also important to ground the film in the real world and so using footage, both photographed and still, and creating documentation we start telling a story as an example of ILAS’s power.

The result was a filmic title sequence introducing ILAS and the benefits it provides.
