Description:

Studio friend and long-time collaborator Kevin Brown from Mother Brown Films called on us to animate a specific sequence in his beautiful documentary about singer/songwriter Matt Deighton (Mother Earth - guitarist for Paul Weller Band and Oasis). The scene was to illustrate a scene within the documentary in which Matt describes his descent into depression on the making of the album ‘Waking UP The Moths.

PROCESS

Kevin aimed to bridge the connection between the 'Waking The Moths' album cover and Matt's descent into depression. The cover featuring Matt asleep on a red couch resonated with his lowest point, making it a fitting album cover. While it made sense to portray this moment, there was uncertainty about symbolizing depression. The sensation of plunging into darkness seemed fitting visually, leading to the discovery of moths within this bleak space. Additionally, it felt appropriate that his guitar initiates the fall, given that music was his lifeline.

We also created the titles, and graphics throughout the documentary.
